Valve Replacement (Second Surgery)

Valve Replacement (Second Surgery)

The human heart has four chambers, each with a valve that ensures the proper flow of blood. Problems with these valves can lead to heart complications such as heart failure. In some cases, the valves do not open properly (stenosis), preventing blood from flowing correctly, or they fail to close properly, allowing blood to leak when it shouldn’t, leading to valve prolapse (e.g., mitral valve prolapse).

Procedure: Valve replacement surgery is the preferred treatment for these conditions, and it may last from 4 to 7 hours. After surgery, the patient is usually transferred to the ICU for monitoring and typically discharged from the hospital after a week.

Recovery Time: Full recovery time can take a few weeks depending on the severity of the procedure.
