Schwannoma Tumor

Schwannoma Tumor

Schwannoma is a tumor that originates from the nerve sheath, often involving cranial nerves, especially the auditory and balance nerves. Treatment options include open surgery for larger tumors and radiosurgery for smaller tumors.

Symptoms:

  • Hearing loss
  • Imbalance

Treatment: In the operating room, the patient is positioned either sitting or lying on their side, depending on their condition. After general anesthesia, a craniotomy is performed at a suitable location (usually behind the ear). Using a microscope, the tumor is carefully separated from the facial nerve and removed.
