Brain Perfusion SPECT with ECD
Brain diseases in humans can lead to anatomical disorders in parts of the brain. In some cases, brain diseases lead to metabolic disorders in certain areas of the brain. Since the amount of metabolism in different regions of the brain is completely dependent on the amount of blood flow in that region, it is easy to visualize the amount of blood flow in different areas of the brain by using the SPECT gamma camera, and in this way, the amount or presence of disorders examined the metabolism of those areas indirectly.
Through brain SPECT, it is possible to diagnose underlying diseases:
- Examining different types of dementia or memory disorders such as Alzheimer's disease.
- Examining the points of epileptic attacks
- In olfactory disorders caused by head injuries in accidents and various other causes
The scanning procedure in the hospital:
To perform the scan, it is necessary to rest for 20 minutes before injection in a quiet and dimly lit environment, and after 40 minutes, imaging will be done.
No special preparation is needed before brain scan.
