Bone Mineral Densitometry
In this method, which is done via X-ray, it is possible to measure bone mass or bone density. The higher the bone density, the more radiation it will absorb. The radiation received by the receiver or detector goes to a computer, where the scale of the amount of radiation is converted into the scale of bone density. In this method, the patient does not need special preparation.
In most cases, bone density is measured using a DEXA device in two areas of the lumbar vertebrae and the hip joint or pelvis.
