Lung Perfusion Scan
Lung perfusion scan is used to diagnose pulmonary embolism. This scan, which is done with Tc-99m-MAA radiopharmaceutical, is a very accurate and easy way to diagnose. Moreover, this is used to determine the perfusion percentage of different lung areas in surgeries or before lung transplantation.
Scanning procedure:
-Imaging is performed for 30 minutes after the injection of the radiopharmaceutical substance.
-There is no special preparation for this scan (such as fasting or discontinuation medication).
-All previous medical records such as simple chest radiography is mandatory.
-On the day of the scan, the presence of a companion alongside the patient is required.
-The complications and the amount of radiation resulting are very small and do not pose any danger to the patient.
Approximate time to perform scanning: about 2 to 3 hours
Length of hospitalization: 1 working day
Approximate length of stay in Iran: 2 days
