Avastin Injection for One Eye

Avastin Injection for One Eye

In recent years, intravitreal injection of Avastin has been widely used in the treatment of retinal diseases. In simple terms, this injection prevents a patient's vision from deteriorating. This medication is used for various retinal disorders and diseases, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, uveitis, vitreous hemorrhage, retinal vein occlusion, choroidal neovascularization, and many other conditions.

Treatment Method: Avastin injection is an outpatient procedure and does not require hospitalization. Depending on the treating physician's recommendation, this injection may be performed in both eyes simultaneously or with a few days apart. The Avastin injection should be administered in the operating room by an ophthalmologist. This procedure does not require anesthesia; only eye drops for numbing are applied before the injection. The injection is performed using a very fine needle.  After the procedure, the eye is typically bandaged for one to two hours, after which the patient is discharged. Typically, patients are scheduled for up to three injections spaced one month apart, along with laser treatment, as recommended by the physician.
