Chalazion

A chalazion is a small, usually painless lump or swelling that appears on the eyelid and is one of the most common eyelid lumps.  It typically occurs on the upper eyelid and is common in adults.  Chalazion sometimes confused with an external hordeolum,  which is an infection in the eyelash follicle and sweat gland and is usually painful, while a chalazion is typically not painful.

Type of anesthesia: Usually does not require anesthesia in most cases.

Length of hospital stay: It is typically an outpatient procedure, but if necessary, it may require one night of hospital stay based on the physician's diagnosis.
