Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) in Children

Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) in Children

A ventricular septal defect is a congenital heart disease caused by a failure in the complete formation of the wall between the two ventricles, and it has various sizes and types of surgeries.
Symptoms: Poor feeding, inadequate weight gain, fatigue, shortness of breath, and recurrent infections.
Treatment Method: In cases of heart failure, diuretics are used, but the main treatment is closing the ventricular septal defect through angiography or surgery, if the necessary conditions exist. In specific cases where spontaneous closure of VSD is likely, the patient is only monitored, and regular echo exams are conducted.
Medical Treatment: Diuretics (water pills) are used temporarily until surgery.
