Cystoscopy

Cystoscopy

Cystoscopy involves using a thin tube called a cystoscope, equipped with a camera and light, to visualize the bladder and urethra.

Symptoms: Diagnostic procedure.

Treatment Method in the Hospital: During cystoscopy, a urologist inserts the cystoscope through the urethra to examine the bladder and urinary tract. It is used for diagnosing and sometimes treating issues such as bladder cancer, bladder control problems, prostate enlargement, and urinary tract infections. Cystoscopy provides valuable information about the urinary tract, prostate, and bladder. Bladder tumors with velvety appearances and bladder inflammation can be detected easily. Patients are often required to undergo cystoscopy before prostate surgery.
After the procedure, patients may experience mild discomfort in the urethra and frequent urination with a burning sensation for a few days.
