Hypospadias Fistula

Hypospadias Fistula

A hypospadias fistula is a complication that can arise 1–6 months after hypospadias surgery when the surgical site reopens, forming a connection between the urethra and the penile skin.

Symptoms: Urinary tract infection, narrowing of the urine stream, and, most importantly, urine leakage from an opening other than the normal urethral meatus.

Treatment Method in the Hospital: Corrective surgery involves opening and repairing the fistula using microscopic techniques and natural tissues from the urethra and penis. In some cases, oral mucosa may be used as an auxiliary tissue. A catheter is placed post-surgery for 2 weeks.
