Nephrostomy Drain Placement

Nephrostomy drain placement is a highly effective method for kidney rescue in patients with hydronephrosis who cannot undergo double-J stent placement. This procedure helps lower blood creatinine levels.

Symptoms:
Hydronephrosis (swelling of one or both kidneys).

Treatment Method in the Hospital:

Under ultrasound guidance in sterile conditions, the area of maximum kidney swelling is identified. Using a specialized nephrostomy set, a needle is guided into the hydronephrosis under ultrasound supervision, allowing clear urine to drain once the needle is correctly positioned. The tract is then dilated using nephrostomy instruments, and the nephrostomy device is inserted and fixed in place.
