One-Stage Hypospadias (Urethral) Repair

One-Stage Hypospadias (Urethral) Repair

Hypospadias refers to the abnormal positioning of the urethral opening, which can occur on the penile head, shaft, or between the scrotal skin.

Symptoms: Urine exiting from openings other than the natural location

Treatment Method in the Hospital: Depending on the location of the misplaced urethral opening, surgery is performed in one or two stages. One-stage surgeries are used for hypospadias located on the penile head or shaft. In this procedure, the patient's own penile tissue is used to reconstruct the missing segment of the urethra, relocating it to its natural position. For two-stage surgeries, natural mucosal tissues such as oral mucosa are often used. A suitable segment of oral mucosa is harvested and sutured to the repair site. Typically, after three months, a second surgery is performed to reconstruct the urethra.

Duration of Stay in Iran: For one-stage surgery: 2 weeks; for two-stage surgery: the patient needs to revisit Iran for the second surgery after healing.
