Radical Prostatectomy (Prostate Cancer Surgery)

Radical Prostatectomy (Prostate Cancer Surgery)

This surgery is performed on patients with prostate cancer (confirmed through pathology) in the early stages and with negative metastasis evaluations, to completely remove the cancerous tissue.

Symptoms: Prostate cancer is often asymptomatic and is detected during a rectal examination or PSA test. However, a positive family history of prostate cancer may prompt an earlier screening by the urologist.

Treatment Method in the Hospital: The procedure involves an incision below the navel to access the bladder and prostate. A catheter is fixed in the urethra. One of the most critical parts of the surgery is ligating the highly bleeding dorsal vein. Following this, the prostate tissue is gradually separated from the urethra, and the vascular pedicles of the prostate are carefully sealed. The prostate is freed, and the seminal vesicles are detached from both sides of the prostate. The prostate is separated from the bladder, and the bladder neck is surgically repaired to connect with the urethra. Finally, pelvic lymph nodes, which may contain tumor invasion, are completely removed.
