Repair of Uterovesical Fistula

Repair of Uterovesical Fistula

Uterovesical fistula is a rare condition that may develop following gynecological surgery, difficult childbirth, or radiation therapy for uterine or bladder cancer, creating an abnormal communication between the uterine cavity and the bladder.

Symptoms:
The primary symptom is the presence of blood in the urine during menstruation.

Treatment Method in the Hospital:

The patient must undergo imaging procedures such as MRI and CT scans with contrast. The location of the bladder-uterine fistula is identified through hysterosalpingography or CT hysterography. After a definitive diagnosis, surgery is performed through an open approach. In this surgery, the wall between the uterus and bladder is carefully separated, and the fistula site is identified. After locating the fistula, both the bladder and uterus are separately repaired.
