Cardiac Angiography

Cardiac Angiography

Cardiac angiography is a procedure that visualizes the heart's blood vessels to diagnose coronary artery blockages. Using X-rays and contrast dye, this method helps identify coronary obstructions.

One treatment for coronary artery disease is angioplasty with ballooning, which is performed at Tehran University of Medical Sciences hospitals by expert cardiologists. After performing angiography to locate the affected artery and the blockage, a specialized catheter is inserted into the coronary arteries to remove the plaque. If necessary, and at the discretion of the treating physician, a stent may be placed within the artery to prevent re-blockage.
